1. Who we are
Black to Mexico, LLC (“Black to Mexico”, “we”) is a Pennsylvania limited liability company. We help Black Americans move to and build lives in Mexico. We publish guides and a blog, run a community, host tours, and work with people one to one.
2. What we do not do — read this first
This is the most important section on the page, and it protects you as much as us.
We are not attorneys and we do not give legal advice. We do not prepare, file, submit or review immigration documents. We do not represent you before any consulate, INM office, or any other authority. Where you need that, we introduce you to a Mexican immigration attorney and you engage them directly.
We are not a real estate agency. We do not search for housing on your behalf, negotiate leases or purchases, or hold deposits. We introduce you to realtors and you deal with them directly.
We are not financial or tax advisers. Nothing we publish or say is financial, tax or investment advice. Cross-border tax is genuinely complicated and you need a professional who knows both systems.
We are not a travel agency. We don’t book flights or accommodation, and our tour prices never include them.
We take no referral fees. We accept no commission, kickback or revenue share from any attorney, realtor, insurer or other provider we introduce you to. We recommend people because we think they’re good, and that’s the only reason. If that ever changes, we’ll say so on this page before it does.
3. Our information is general
Everything we publish — guides, blog posts, courses, the See Your Freedom calculator, anything said on a call — is general information based on our own experience and research. It is not advice about your situation.
Visa rules, income requirements, fees and procedures change, and they vary by consulate. A figure that was right when we published it may not be right when you read it, and a consulate in one city may decide differently from another. Always check with the consulate or office that will handle your case. Where we give a figure we try to date it; treat an undated figure as out of date.
4. What you buy
What’s included in each offering, and what it costs, is set out on its own page and confirmed before you pay. Prices are in US dollars.
Third-party costs are yours. Attorney fees, government and immigration fees, rental deposits, flights, lodging, insurance and similar are paid by you directly to those providers. We never handle or mark up that money.
Tours never include flights or lodging, and travel insurance is strongly recommended and is your responsibility.
Refunds and cancellations are covered in our Refund Policy.
5. Scheduling
Calls are booked through our scheduling system. If you need to reschedule, the notice periods are in the Refund Policy. If we need to reschedule, you’ll be offered a new time or your money back, whichever you prefer.
6. Our communities
The Threshold and The Circle are places people bring real worry about big decisions. So:
- What someone shares in the community stays in the community.
- Treat people decently. Disagreement is fine; contempt isn’t.
- Don’t sell to our members, recruit them, or use the community as a lead list.
- Don’t give legal, immigration, tax or medical advice to other members as though it were professional advice.
We may remove anyone who breaks these, without a refund where the behaviour was serious. We’d much rather talk to you first.
7. What’s ours
Our guides, courses, blog posts, photographs, the names Black to Mexico and See Your Freedom, and our materials are ours. You may use what you buy for yourself. You may not resell it, republish it, share your course or community login, or feed our materials into a product of your own.
Quoting a short passage with credit and a link is welcome. We like being quoted.
8. What’s yours
What you write in our community stays yours. By posting it you let us display it there. We won’t put your words, your name or your story in marketing without asking you first, in writing, for that specific use.
9. What we’re responsible for
We’ll deliver what you bought, with care and honestly.
We can’t be responsible for decisions you make about moving, for what an attorney, realtor or other provider does, for a visa being refused or delayed, for changes in law, exchange rates or cost of living, or for anything outside our control including weather, strikes and travel disruption.
Where we’re found liable despite the above, our liability is limited to what you paid us for the thing that went wrong.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
10. If something goes wrong
Email info@blacktomexico.net first. Most things are a conversation, and a conversation takes a day where a dispute takes months. We’d genuinely rather hear from you.
11. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If we cannot resolve a dispute by talking first (section 10), it will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the Western District of Pennsylvania, and you and we both agree to that venue. Consumer-protection laws where you live may still apply to you whatever this says.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The version in effect on the day you buy is the one that applies to your purchase. If a change matters, we’ll say so by email.
