about the movement
Why Black to Mexico?
We’re not just moving — we’re remembering. A sanctuary for those seeking liberation, community, and clarity, offering tools, stories, and support to relocate with purpose.
our rhythms: the heart of our work
Our Mission
Black to Mexico exists to empower African Americans to reclaim freedom, joy, and ancestral connection through intentional relocation. We provide soulful storytelling, practical guidance, and community support to help our people navigate life abroad with dignity, clarity, and cultural pride. Our mission is to make liberation tangible — one journey, one story, one sacred step at a time.
our horizon: the future we’re building
Our Vision
We envision a thriving global diaspora where Black individuals and families live freely, rooted in purpose and belonging. We’re building a movement that reimagines home — not just as a place, but as a feeling of safety, sovereignty, and spiritual alignment.

the storyteller’s voice
From Shadow to Sanctuary: Della’s Story
I’ve always been interested in what becomes possible when people have the information, resources, and community to make choices about their lives from a place of agency rather than limitation.
Black to Mexico grew out of that idea.
When I came to Mexico, I saw more than a place to live. I saw a place where Black Americans could begin asking different questions about what they wanted their lives to look like: where they wanted to live, how they wanted to spend their time, what kind of community they wanted around them, and what greater autonomy could look like for them.
But having the desire to make a major life change is very different from knowing how to do it.
There are questions about immigration, housing, money, culture, language, healthcare, safety, business, community, and simply figuring out how to build a life somewhere new. Too often, people have to piece that knowledge together on their own.
I wanted to change that.
Black to Mexico is being built to create the pathways I wished existed: practical education, guidance, programs, community, and increasingly, technology that can make the process of researching and creating a new life more accessible.
But relocation is only the surface of what I’m building.
At the heart of Black to Mexico is a bigger question:
What becomes possible when people have the knowledge, tools, relationships, and confidence to design their lives more intentionally?
That question is what drives me.
I believe education should do more than give people information. It should help people see possibilities and act on them.
I believe community should do more than connect people. It should give people somewhere to belong while they navigate change.
And I believe technology can make pathways that once felt complicated, inaccessible, or overwhelming much easier to navigate.
That is the direction I’m taking Black to Mexico: building an ecosystem that combines pathways, education, community, and technology to help people explore what a more autonomous life could look like, and then take practical steps toward creating it.
Where it began
Mexico is where the story began.
When I moved to Puerto Morelos, I didn’t just relocate. I reclaimed. After years of supporting others, I finally had space to ask what I wanted for myself, and I was welcomed there as kin. That experience, along with years of helping others navigate their own moves, is what Black to Mexico is built on: real knowledge of visa processes, and relationships with immigration attorneys, housing specialists, and community leaders in Mexico.
Our mission

Our vision
A thriving global diaspora where Black individuals and families live freely, where home is a feeling of safety, sovereignty, and spiritual alignment, not only a place.
How we work
Whole-person approach. We support the whole self: spirit, emotions, dreams, and power, not only the physical move.
Trauma-informed and culturally centered. We are grounded in the Black American experience, honoring historical displacement trauma and the healing potential of relocation.
Practical wisdom. We combine spirit and strategy to turn dreams into concrete action.

our sacred alignment
Our Guiding Truths
Every decision we make, every service we offer, every conversation we have is guided by seven sacred truths. These are not just words — they are the foundation of everything Black to Mexico is and does.

1 Spiritual Grounding
We honor the spiritual dimensions of major life transitions and create space for ritual, reflection, and ancestral connection.
In practice: guided meditations in our courses, grounding practices in every strategy session.
2 Liberation as Legacy
Black liberation is not just an individual goal — it’s a collective legacy. Your journey becomes medicine for your community.
In practice: testimonials that center Black stories, a blog that amplifies Black voices, a community that celebrates Black joy.
3 Radical Belonging
Everyone deserves to belong — to themselves, to a community, to a place. Relocation is an act of claiming your right to belong.
In practice: a growing free guide library built as a resource for real belonging, tours that include real community connection.
4 Creative Truth
We believe in the power of storytelling, art, and creative expression to heal and transform.
In practice: poetic, soulful language across our site and content, written and designed with care.
5 Ethical Empowerment
Transparent, honest, ethical business practices. We never exploit vulnerability, and we empower informed decisions.
In practice: clear pricing, honest service descriptions, no high-pressure sales tactics.
6 Community Care
We are stronger together. Relocation is not a solitary journey — it’s a collective one.
In practice: a growing library of real community connections, courses built on collective support.
7 Practical Vision
Dreams without action are just wishes. We balance the poetic with the practical, the spiritual with the strategic.
In practice: concrete plans in every strategy session, practical checklists in every guide.
